HushScan Privacy Policy
Effective October 16, 2026
HushScan is a document scanner for iPhone made by Rude Finch (“we”). It is built so that your documents stay on your device. This policy explains what the app does with information and the choices you have.
Your documents stay on your iPhone
- Scans, photos you import, recognized text, signatures and the files you create are stored in the app on your iPhone.
- Camera processing, text recognition, translation and file conversion (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF) run on your device. We do not operate a server that receives your documents, and there is no account to create.
- We do not sell personal information and we do not use your documents for advertising, analytics or training.
Information we do not collect
The app does not collect your name, email, contacts, precise location, documents or recognized text. It does not include analytics or crash-reporting services of its own, and it does not ask for permission to track you across apps or websites. The only third-party service in the app is Google AdMob in the free version, described below.
Permissions
- Camera — to scan documents. Images stay on your device.
- Photos (add only) — to save images you create with the tools to your photo library when you choose to.
- Contacts — only when you save a scanned business card as a new contact.
- Face ID / passcode — to lock the app if you turn App lock on. Apple handles the authentication; the app never receives biometric data.
- Notifications — only after you start a free trial, to remind you 2 days before it renews. You can decline; it does not affect your trial or purchases.
Advertising
The free version may show advertisements provided by Google AdMob: at most one native ad on Home and one in Tools; a full-screen ad when you return to Home after saving a scan, at most once every three saves and twice a day; and a short video only when you choose to watch one for an extra free use of a Pro tool. Ads are requested as non-personalized, the app does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission, and no ads are shown on the first day after install. The app never sends your documents, document names or recognized text to the advertising service. Google may process device identifiers, approximate location derived from your IP address, ad-interaction, performance and diagnostic information to deliver, measure and protect ads. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app first shows Google's consent message, and you can change your choice any time in Settings › Ad privacy choices. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services. Pro members do not load or see ads.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the one-time Lifetime purchase are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment details. The app checks Apple's verified purchase records on your device to unlock Pro.
Sharing and backups
When you share or export a file, only the items you select are sent to the app or destination you choose; that destination's own policy then applies. If you turn on Auto-save, new scans are saved as PDFs to the folder you pick (for example iCloud Drive or Dropbox). Library backups you export are not encrypted. Your iPhone backups may include app data according to your device settings.
Deleting your data
Move documents to Trash in the app and delete them permanently, or delete the app to remove all of its data from your iPhone. Copies you exported elsewhere must be removed there.
Children
HushScan is a general-audience productivity app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
